Sanyasa Yoga - Bhagavad Gita Fifth Chapter

Bhagavad Gita fifth chapter – Sanyasa Yoga

Arjuna: Krishna once you are saying that giving up karma is good and on the other side you are saying karma yoga (doing work without expectations) is good. Please let me know which is the best in both

Bhagavan Shri Krishna: Karma sanyasa (giving up), karma yoga both will take you to the same place. But in this both,  karma yoga is better than karma sanyasa.

One who does not hate, who does not have desire is the nitya sanyasi (perfect/continuous sanyasi). only fools will say that sankya yoga and karma yoga are different. If one is practiced perfectly result of both will be achieved (received)

A yogi who has got the true knowledge will consider that breathing, smelling, seeing etc are done by indriyas (sense organs) but not by him.

Great people will consider an educated person, an uneducated person, cow, elephant etc. as equal.

A yogi should not think about happiness which has start and end.(which are not ever lasting)

A rishi who’s soul is without impurities, who has control over his thoughts and who pray for the good of all will reach Brahma Nirvana stage.

One who has understood me as the receiver of all yagnas, lord of all the worlds and as well-wisher of everyone will get permanent peace”

Jnana Yoga - Shrimad Bhagavad Gita fourth Chapter

Shrimad Bhagavad Gita fourth chapter – Jnana Yoga

Bhagavan Shri Krishna: I have earlier told this karma yoga to sun god, from sun god this knowledge of karma yoga was learned by many. But with time, the knowledge of karma yoga was forgotten. So I am telling that sanatana (very old and precious) yoga to you.

Arjuna: Sun god is millions of years elder than you how is it possible that you have taught him karma yoga?

Shri Krishna : you and me have already spent many janmas (life’s). But I remember all those janmas but you don’t remember it.

Arjuna! Whenever there is a problem to dharma and when adharma becomes more, to protect the good people, to eradicate the bad people and to establish dharma, I will be born in every yuga. Who all understands the meaning of my janmas (life) and karmas(works) will not born again(will get moksha). Many great people who gave away affection, fear, anger and kept meditating about me has reached me because of jnana tapasya.

Arjuna I will be blessing people in the form they pray me. One who doesn’t keep attachment with karma phala (result) who is always satisfied, who is not dependent on anything and keeps doing the duty is considered as a person who has not done any karma. Controlling the indriyas, prana and understanding brahma tatva (oneness or actual knowledge) is like doing yagna.

Arjuna how fire can burn wood into ashes, in the same way jnana can burn all karmas. One who doesn’t have jnana, concentration and who is always confused will be destroyed. A confused person will not have peace in this life and even after life. One should come out of the confusion with Jnana (actual knowledge).

So Arjuna remove the confusion which is born from ignorance with help of Jnana.

Karma Yoga - Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Third Chapter

Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Third chapter – Karma Yoga

Arjuna after listening to sankya yoga

Arjuna: Krishna don’t confuse me with your words , is it better to give up everything and live like a saint or is it good to do karma? Tell me clearly what is good to me

Bhagavan Shri Krishna: Gyana yoga( giving up and knowing the actual knowledge) is for sankyas(saints) and karma yoga should be followed by yogis. Do your karma(duty). It is better to do your duty than not doing. If karma is not done life journey will not go further.

Considering the good that is going to happen to the world, it is always better to do karma. So it is better for you to do karma. Leave all your karma’s to me, put your chitta(consciousness) in atma(soul), leave desire, affection and do the war.

Who all perform karma as said above will get released from all the karma’s.

In everything (which can be seen, felt, heard……) there will be raga(affection) or dvesha(dislike or enemity). A karma yogi should not be bound by this. Ragadvesha are enemies to karma yogi.

karma yoga bhagavad gita

Arjuna: Krishna why a human is doing papa( evil things) as if someone is forcing them to do? What is the reason and who is responsible for it?

Shri Krishna: Papa(evil) will be born from kamam(desire) , krodh(unnecessary anger) , rajogun(attitude of doing anything for a need). These are the enemies for every person in this world.

Kama(desire) will cover the knowledge of a person as dust covers a mirror. Kama cannot be satisfied. Kama will cover the gyana(knowledge) and with the help of indriyas(sense organs) will lead the person in to moha(illusion).

Indriyas are powerful, manas(thinking power/will….) is more powerful than indriyas, buddhi(power of differentiating good and bad) is more powerful than manas and atma(soul) is more powerful than buddhi. So with the help of atma(soul) control your indriyas and kill kama(desire).
